The focus of Grade 1 English Language Arts is the development of skills within the six language arts.

The six language arts are comprised of reading, writing, speaking, listening, viewing and visually representing. Traditionally, there has been more emphasis on the first four skills, but as we navigate an increasingly digital world, viewing and visually representing has become increasingly important.
